In Case You Were Wondering

I’m thinking about starting a series of posts by that title. What do you think? You might have to give me some ideas of what you’re wondering about. For today, though, I know this pressing question has been on your mind– How do I like my sandwiches cut?

When Cory and I first got married and started making sandwiches together, he was surprised to find out that I still like my sandwiches cut. He prefers his whole. I, on the other hand, cut every sandwich. The type of sandwich determines how I cut it, though.

In general, if the sandwich has some sort of schmear on it, like pb&j, for example, I cut it diagonally. It is easier to eat without getting it on my face, since the shape is narrower.

If the sandwich has a more solid substance on it, however, such as a tomato sandwich, or a ham and cheese, then it has to be cut down the center. The larger sizes of bread help hold the solid on better.

I know, I know, you’re thinking, if it’s cut in half, regardless of the shape, the size is the same. The area of a sandwich doesn’t change when you cut it. But the shape really does make a difference. I promise.

So there you have it. Now what are you really wondering?
